This is our first Youth Bulletin. In order to keep everyone informed about events and activities in our region, I will be working on a series of bulletins and e-mailing them out to the Youth Representatives. The Youth Reps in turns can please send this out to anyone and everyone they feel might be interested. As this is the first bulletin, I only have information about the Ottawa branch, but as i continue, I ask for updates from all the branches and i can include those activities and send it out. I would like to see this as a median for communication between branches, a tool to encourage each other and a forum for idea's and suggestions.

Thanks,

 Siobhan O'Brien

31 Ottawa and area CCÉ members took the convention bus to the annual North American Convention in Parsippany, NJ. on April 15th along with 8 other members who travelled by car or plane and joined over 800 Comhaltas members from all over Canada and the United States for a long weekend of Irish music and dancing -- workshops, concerts, seísiuns, céilís --  as well as tours, banquet, the annual meetings, and much much more. We has a great time with 645 people at the banquet and music and dancing non-stop each day until nearly 4:00 am! In the picture to the right, Matt Pepin (Ottawa Youth and Fiddle Instructor) joins in on one of the many seísiuns.

Recently the Ottawa Branch of Comhaltas participated in the Almonte Celtfest. It is an annual even where musicians, dancers and vendors combined for an exciting day. Comhaltas Ottawa adult dancers were among performers during the day. Their set finished off by inviting people from the crowds to join them on the lawn for the Haymakers Jig. Youth fiddle player Terri-Lynn Mahusky accompanied the dancers all day long.
