Postponed in 2020, delayed in 2021, and held over four days (April 21-24), the 2022 North American Comhaltas Convention was a huge success. Over 300 attendees traveled from Ireland, England, Canada and from all across the US, including a large contingent from New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New Mexico and New Jersey. Four energetic ceili’s featuring John Whelan, Pearl River (NY), Sourdough and Golden Gate Céilí bands kept the set dancers going all weekend.
There was a wide variety of workshops, including céilí, set, sean nós, jive, line dancing, music, Irish language, recitation and storytelling.
A highlight of the weekend was the Saturday evening Banquet which mixed the out-of-town guests with the supportive local community. The entertainment was produced by Irish dance teacher Michael Dillon.
On Sunday, Mass with Irish Choir, Cór Radharc an Chnoic (from Mountain View) was celebrated, followed by brunch, a set dance workshop and a rousing farewell Céilí with music by the Golden Gate Céilí Band.
